Designer

Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối is currently looking for a Web Designer to volunteer with us on our Web Team! As a Web Designer, you will help maintain our website as we roll out new content.

Responsibilities:

Update pages and content on Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối’s website
Design new pages and layouts when needed, either as wireframes, prototypes or final designs
Create email templates using HTML and inline CSS for email campaigns in Vertical Response
Be an active team member and comfortable working with people from all walks of life
Participate in weekly meetings and take on tasks when assigned
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
Take initiative and show leadership
Required

Qualifications:

HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, and WordPress
Knowledge of web accessibility standards
Knowledge of mobile responsive design
Cross-browser compatibility (e.g. Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox)

Communications

Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối is seeking a marketing specialist who can develop marketing materials that will cater to a diverse demographic within and around the Chinatown-International District (CID) community.

Responsibilities:

Brainstorm and develop ideas for creative marketing kits and campaigns
Conduct demographic research on community needs and program capability
Assist in internal and external marketing activities by demonstrating expertise in content development, advertising, and event planning
Work with cross-functional internal volunteer teams (Graphics, PR & Comms, Instructors, etc.)

Requirements:

Have excellent communication skills with the ability to work successfully with other volunteer teams such as instructors, PR/Comms team, etc.
Experience with marketing research and strategy development
Familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel

Program Support

Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối is looking for an experienced information technology (IT) systems admin to lead or advise the IT team and help with computer set-up, installation, troubleshooting, service, security, and maintenance upgrades on a volunteer basis.

Position Description:

The Volunteer Systems administrator is responsible for planning projects and tasks with an all-volunteer IT team of 2-6 people, maintaining existing systems, making recommendations for hardware and software upgrades, troubleshooting longstanding issues, and moving the IT infrastructure toward the ultimate goal of a high level of availability and dependability for all systems. The current volunteer IT team has very little systems administration experience, so filling this role is a high priority!

Requirements:

Degree in Computer Science or similar degree
Microsoft MSCA or MSCE Certification in Windows Server, networking, or other relevant certification
System administration experience
Microsoft Server 2008, 2012, and/or 2016 administration experience
Planning and deploying Microsoft servers
Strong Networking experience
Strong verbal and written skills
Experience working in an environment with strong emphasis on government or medical compliance

Community Outreach

Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối is looking for a recruitment specialist to actively recruit prospective clients interested in Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối’s services on a continuing basis.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Executive Director you will:

Write, edit, update and manage recruitment ads for prospective clients
Work with Marketing Specialist to analyze current demographics and client needs
Help strategize ways to foster client growth and program improvements catering to clients’ needs
Seek out new opportunities for placement of recruitment ads within community centers, media, churches, local businesses, etc. around the C-ID community and greater Seattle area
Manage communication with prospective clients
Lead community outreach efforts that promote Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối such as posting flyers, event promotion tabling, and attending community meetings

Requirements:

Strong writing and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Leadership

Roles and Responsibilities:

Attend all Board meetings and the annual Board Retreat, and participate actively in two annual Board fundraisers: Our spring Seattle Foundation Give Big and fall Annual Gala.
Serve on one Board Committee and/or Task Force/Working Group, and carry out related responsibilities.
Review agenda and supporting materials before Board and committee/task force/working group meetings.
Understand and commit to Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối’s mission, services, programs, and policies.
Make Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối a philanthropic priority, and make an annual gift that is personally significant that reflects that priority.
Participate actively in fund development initiatives, including hosting a table of 10 at the Annual Fall Gala, and bringing guests to our Give Big event.
Be a community ambassador for Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối and make warm introductions for Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối to friends, associates, and community leaders.
Recommend board and committee members.
Follow all conflict of interest, ethics and confidentiality guidelines.

Demonstrated a track record of working in or directing teams and willingness to take on leadership roles.
Experience in at least one relevant area, such as non-profit governance, fund development, advocacy, strategic planning, IT, organizational development, change/growth management, program development and expansion, finance/accounting, and law.
Prior board experience is highly desirable.

Terms and Time Commitments

Members are elected to a 1-year term (renewable for two additional terms). Monthly time investment: 8-10 hours per month, typically:

2 hours to prepare for and attend a Board meeting (10 per year)
3 hours for committee work (per committee)
2-4 hours for particular tasks, meetings, introductions to community leaders, events and fund development activities, e.g. the annual Board Retreat and recruitment of Annual Gala guests (Hourly commitment varies by month as needed)committee, projects, and events.

Consultant

POSITION OVERVIEW

Helping Link is seeking a consultant that has experience outreaching the Vietnamese community to conduct a community needs assessment. The project will consists of focus groups held at Helping Link and outreach to Vietnamese community hubs in the Seattle area. We are looking for someone that has demonstrated success in crafting survey protocols, identifying outreach avenues, and organizing focus groups. The preferred candidate will be someone within the Vietnamese-American community or have extensive experience building relationships with immigrant and refugee communities. The consultant will be responsible for crafting the outreach plan for Helping Link volunteers to execute and then synthesizing data collected. The final product will be an assessment of needs in the Vietnamese American community, gaps in addressing needs, and recommendations on how Helping Link can address those gaps.
